The Egregor of the Dove or the Reign of Peace

Everyone agrees that peace is essential. And yet they continually feed the fires of conflict within their own hearts and in society, in politics and economics. As long as we do not master our own disordered thoughts and feelings, we cannot hope to create durable peace around us. When peace reigns within us then, and then only, can we truly contribute to peace in the world.

Peace, as people generally understand the word, is not real peace; to be without agitation outwardly, even inwardly, is not peace. True peace, once you have it can never be lost. Peace is not a question of feeling well-disposed and comfortable, but of something far more precious. It is the result of some other element: when all the instruments of an orchestra are tuned, when the musicians are attentive and follow the direction of the conductor, the result is an extraordinary harmony. Peace is harmony within the human being, a perfect accord between all the various elements, forces, functions, thoughts, feelings and actions.
